After serving Kaufman County as a Deputy Sheriff, Shelley Don Featherston was appointed to the office of Kaufman County Constable Pct1 in 1995. Constable Featherston was elected to a four year term in 1996.

He and his wife Sandra have been married 35 years and live in the Post Oak Bend community. They have two grown children, Lisa and Kelley, both graduates of Kaufman High School. They each have families and live in the City of Kaufman and the Rand Community. The Featherstons have three grandchildren.

Constable Featherston is licensed by the State of Texas as a Certified Peace Officer. He is a member the Texas Justices of the Peace and Constables Association and the East Texas Justices of the Peace and Constables Association. He has completed over 1400 hours of training in various Police related courses approved by TCLEOSE ( Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education ).
